M26 Track Profiles and Mounting Sections

Choose the M26 section around the ceiling build-up. The family includes a surface strip, recessed forms, a suspended or surface section and a soft-membrane profile. All profile comparisons should begin with the actual installation detail.

Select the exposed edge

A surface strip remains visible against the ceiling, while a recessed body depends on the surrounding finish. Establish the desired junction between paint, plaster and rail before ordering sections. YZ-M26A places a 26 × 6mm surface body against the ceiling, so its edge remains part of the finished appearance. The recessed YZ-M26B asks for a different relationship with the surrounding material. Draw a short section through each proposed condition and identify where the ceiling finish stops. An edge that is intended to appear flush should be agreed with the finishing trade before the rail is ordered. A surface section should be evaluated from an oblique view, where both its side and the cable arrival may be seen. The choice between these bodies is therefore a construction and appearance decision, not simply a comparison of how narrow their openings look in plan.

02

Coordinate the cutout

The opening required by a recessed profile is a construction dimension. Use the correct section drawing and allow the ceiling trade to coordinate its support and finishing detail. The YZ-M26B entry lists 32mm slotting. Keep that construction dimension separate from the outside widths of the other profiles in the table. Ask the ceiling trade to review the actual section drawing, including backing and the fixing sequence. Check whether the proposed opening conflicts with framing or another service above the board. A nominal slot marked on a reflected ceiling plan cannot resolve the depth and edge conditions by itself. Include the finished surface line and any corner in the detail sent for quotation. This reduces the risk of treating a cutout dimension as the rail's overall size or cutting the ceiling before the selected installation detail is understood.

03

Review the deeper profiles

M26C and M26D provide different body proportions from the thin surface option. Consider the way the chosen section affects suspension, recess depth and the visible side of the run. YZ-M26C is listed at 29.5 × 50mm and YZ-M26D at 29 × 35mm. Put those bodies at the intended level in the room section and compare their visible sides and available construction depth. Their dimensions should guide the mounting conversation rather than being read as interchangeable versions of the thin surface strip. Include the attached lamp below each option so the full projection is visible. Where suspension is being considered, ask for the corresponding support arrangement and the power arrival to be identified. A deeper body can create a stronger architectural line, but its role should be chosen intentionally in relation to beams, furniture and the lighting task beneath it.

04

Treat DM as a separate ceiling detail

The soft-membrane profile must work with the membrane edge and supporting structure. Its fittings should be selected from the corresponding detail rather than a generic recessed package. The YZ-M26-DM section measures 60 × 42mm and belongs to the soft-membrane ceiling detail. Show the membrane edge, the supporting construction and the rail opening in the same enlarged section. Identify who supplies and fixes each part before the ceiling specialist releases the fabric dimensions. Dedicated joining and reinforcement fittings should follow this detail, with the direction of corners clearly drawn. A generic recessed-rail allowance can omit the very parts that connect the ceiling finish to the profile. Keep the DM selection separately labeled even when adjacent parts of the project use another M26 profile, so procurement and installers do not treat their edge and support requirements as identical.

05

Schedule the rail pieces

Work from the listed profile lengths and place junctions intentionally. A section schedule can prevent a visually important line from gaining an awkward splice at the center of a room. Use 1000, 1500 and 2000mm as the listed M26 profile lengths when dividing the drawn routes. Put junctions where the installer can align and support them, while considering the visible rhythm from the main room entrance. A short remainder at an end can be awkward if it leaves little practical space for its input or closure. Mark proposed cuts and ask the installer to review how those pieces will be assembled. Do not add an unlisted length simply to make the arithmetic tidy. The takeoff should show each physical section, its location and the fitting at its next interface, so the quotation can be checked against an actual installation sequence.

06

Compare black and white in context

Rail finish changes the strength of the ceiling line. Check it beside the actual ceiling paint and luminaire body so the whole assembly reads as intended. Black can emphasize the rail as a drawn line against a pale ceiling, while white may make the body less prominent beside a similar finish. Compare the selected aluminum profile with the lamp bodies rather than matching the rail paint in isolation. At a recessed edge, inspect how the adjoining plaster or ceiling material meets the finish. At a surface run, the sidewalls and terminations can catch light differently from the face shown in a catalog image. Review a representative joint and input location as part of the material comparison. This keeps the finished installation coherent where unlike shapes, surfaces and viewing angles meet, rather than relying on a single color label across the order.

07

Resolve feeds and closures early

Profile selection is incomplete without input positions, ends and junction hardware. Add these details to the profile drawing so installation does not depend on improvised finishing. Mark which end receives power and which ends close the line. Identify every straight junction, corner and change of plane beside its corresponding profile, then request the associated fittings. The same room can contain a simple straight surface run and a more complicated membrane edge, so a single accessory allowance can conceal different needs. Include the route from the DC48V supply to the chosen input, with electrical access reviewed by the contractor. Keep the physical joint schedule next to the rail takeoff. An installer should be able to follow the line from feed to termination without inventing an edge treatment or discovering that a necessary closure was never part of the order.

Bring the selection into the room: M26 Track Profiles and Mounting Sections

Select the M26 profile from the ceiling section first: YZ-M26A for the shallow surface direction, YZ-M26B with its stated slotting detail, or the deeper and soft-membrane forms where their construction suits the room. Keep the 1000, 1500 and 2000mm takeoff beside the joint schedule. Add finish, feed and closure choices before requesting the corresponding lamps and DC48V arrangement, so the rail order describes more than a visible line.
